Foods are composed of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates.

In order for foods to be assimilated into the body, a degradation process is needed, which means that foods are simplified in a much simpler molecule, which is called digestion.

This transformation is produced by different enzymes encountered during digestion.
Biochemical, hormonal, and nervous factors allow theses enzymes to be regulated.

Digestion starts in the mouth with the saliva, which contains an essential enzyme: Ptyalin. Its role is to do a pre-digestion of foods and degrade them so they are easily digested.

Digestion continues in the esophagus and finishes in the intestine, thanks to the different enzymes encountered throughout this process, as well as to the pancreatic juice (which contains 3 essential enzymes: Trypsin, Amylase, and Lipase).

This is why an exterior intake of digestive enzymes is advised to reinforce the simplification of foods and improve digestion.
